4 Movies That Confirm Robbing Banks for a Living Is a Bad Idea

It's tough to make a living in this day and age. Jobs aren't as abundant as the number of people who need them, and layoffs and cutbacks are leaving hard-working people out of jobs. The pressure to provide for yourself or a family might cause you to consider more extreme career options. However appealing robbing banks to become an instant millionaire sounds, it's never a good idea. Here are a few Hollywood movies that demonstrate the danger of deciding to pull the ultimate heist. Consider these movies before daydreaming about becoming a criminal to solve monetary problems.
The Dark Night: People Can Betray You
Christopher Nolan's Batman sequel "The Dark Night" is an extremely compelling and entertaining film. It starts off with a bank robbery going relatively smoothly, until the true villain (the Joker) surfaces and starts killing his comrades. Unfortunately in this line of work, you'll often find your coworkers are exceedingly greedy (it's the nature of the beast). What's stopping them from eliminating you for your cut of the money? Little stands in the way of being double crossed by your own team, which makes this type of work extremely risky.
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid: The Law is Always on Your Tail
If you can manage to escape the police after the first bank robbery you commit, you're lucky. The police are very aware of the presence of criminals attempting to rob banks, and they respond with force. Neighboring businesses will report any suspicious activity they see or hear, which increases your chances of being caught. The protagonists of "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid" decide they have to flee to South America in order to escape the law, but ultimately end up with a massive police confrontation.
Dog Day Afternoon: Your Plan Can Go Horribly Wrong
You may believe you've planned your heist perfectly, accounting for every detail and all variables. However, this is impossible. Life is unpredictable, as demonstrated in "Dog Day Afternoon." One thing after another goes wrong in this film, leaving the main characters scratching their heads while holding hostages in the building. Needless to say, this is not an ideal position for a bank robber. Left with no escape, the main characters are sure to end up in the custody of the police.
Bonnie And Clyde's Lesson: You'll Likely Wind Up Dead
The real life couple inspired the movie "Bonnie and Clyde" about two outlaws that toured the country robbing banks during the Great Depression. Though they managed to elude police officers for three years, stretching their spree from 1931 to 1934, they eventually were cut down in a shower of bullets. Once you've committed enough robberies, the police will do anything to catch you, dead or alive.
While you might be tempted to throw caution to the wind and hold your own heist to make some fast cash, know that bank robberies are always going to end badly.

Star Wars - The Real Back Story

When someone writes a hit movie or a best seller, it's easy to think it all resulted from a stroke of creative genius and it just happened organically. But in almost every case nothing could be further from the truth.
Take the Stars Wars movie franchise for instance. A number of intriguing back- stories exist about how things got to be as they were in the Star Wars movies. Here I should give a plug to a writer called Chris Taylor who discovered them and wrote a book suitably titled: How Star Wars Conquered the Universe: The Past, Present and Future of a Multi-billion Dollar Franchise.
For example, Taylor tells the story of when Star Wars creator George Lucas showed a rough cut of the movie to his mates Steven Spielberg and Brian De Palmer, Spielberg thought it was going to be a huge hit but De Palmer mocked it mercilessly. He told Lucas what is all this " Force shit? Where's all the blood when they shoot people." But sarcasm aside, De Palmer was a talent. Lucas knew it. And De Palmer wanted to help his friend. So he and Jay Cocks, another screenwriter and critic for Time magazine, agreed to re-write the opening crawler. You remember. The big words in yellow at the start of the movie, which disappear into outer space. The words give the back-story of the Empire and the rebel alliance.
And there are plenty of other intriguing and tasty morsels to be had.
How about the origin of the Han Solo Wookie? That came about after the sound editor on one of George Lucas's other projects hired a voice actor called Terry McGovern. And McGovern just happened to bring along an old army buddy called Bill Wookey.
You might be starting to get where this is going.
At some stage marijuana must have been smoked because a very stoned McGovern adlibbed during a voice-over recording "I think I just ran over a Wookey back there." Lucas who might have been equally stoned, who knows, thought what McGovern had said was hilarious and he wrote down the line in his notebook but changed the spelling of Wookey so that it ended in the letters 'I' and 'e'. Incidentally McGovern was also hired to be a voice actor on Star Wars. Remember the scene where Obi-Wan-Kenobi hypnotises one of Darth Vader's Storm Troopers into saying: "These aren't the droids we are looking for?" Well that was Terry McGovern's voice saying it. McGovern was paid the princely sum of $200 for his token bit of screen immortality. Bill Wookey, McGovern's friend never met George Lucas and had no idea his name would inspire film history. That was until Bill Wookey happened to see the movie and other people who also saw it said he must have inspired the character Chewbacca. Bill Wookey is a hairy, bearded man who is 6 foot 3 inches.
There is one back-story that Taylor tells that I particularly like. It concerns the origin of the name of the little droid R2 D2.
George Lucas was also responsible for the movie American Graffiti. He and a man called Walter Murch did the sound mix. But in order to do the job properly they needed to match the dialogue to the right reel of film. So they would write on cans of film the letters R for reel and D for dialogue. Of course each can was numbered so there would be no confusion. Apparently, one day (this is a true story) Murch yelled out: "I need R 2 D 2" and everyone on set laughed their heads off. Lucas laughed as well but he also wrote the line down in his notebook.
The Vietnam War played a major role in shaping the Star Wars trilogy. Lucas was rejected for the draft because of his diabetes. But even before he made Star Wars, Lucas wanted to create a documentary style anti-war film on Vietnam. It was to be called Apocalypse Now, a title devised by one of Lucas's friends. Instead the project was passed on to Francis Ford Coppola, who gave Lucas his first movie job working on the musical Finian's Rainbow. Taylor says in his book that in 1973, Lucas wrote a note on Star Wars: 'A large technological empire going after a small group of freedom fighters.' In some ways that was how Lucas saw the Vietnam War. The Empire being the United States and the freedom fighters the Viet Cong. Star Wars apparently had a rough time getting the required backing from a studio. It was pitched to United Artists but they rejected it. Universal had an option on the production but never bothered giving Lucas an answer. He took the project to Disney but they also said no. Finally Fox said yes and the rest is history.
In case you are interested, Fox permanently owns the rights but Disney will get a piece of the action. They bought LucasFilm for $4 billion two years ago.
But I've saved the absolute best anecdote until last. Taylor's book talks about how Han Solo got to be cast. Lucas considered Harrison Ford but initially ruled him out because he thought a potential Star Wars audience might be distracted if a cast member from American Graffiti (Ford had a small part) suddenly turned up in his next movie.
Harrison Ford, was unemployed at the time and had returned to his original job, as a carpenter. Would you believe one of his carpentry jobs just happened to be at the American Zoetrope offices where Lucas was casting for Star Wars. Ford was installing a new door. Lucas saw Ford working and decided he would, after all, invite him to cast for the role of Han Solo and Ford got the gig. It just goes to show everything happens for a reason. Imagine how different it all might have been had Lucas gone with his other choice, Christopher Walken instead of Harrison Ford? Would Star Wars still be the box office blockbuster with a very different Han Solo? I doubt it.

Dolphin Tale 2

In these days of wars on three fronts, headlines of missiles raining down on Syria, ninety minutes of a story based upon a dedicated group of people with the single, pure and loving goal of rescue, rehabilitate and release of Dolphins and other marine animals was just what we needed yesterday.
Dolphin Tale 2 is the sequel to a movie telling the true story of a group of people in Clearwater Florida who rescued a dolphin they named Winter pictured here with the prosthetic device devised to function for the amputated lower part of her body and her tail. The acclaim of the public to the original story was overwhelming-particularly for those many veterans and children who are amputees.
The sight of this dolphin with her prosthetic tail - an animal who would be prey were she to left on her own in the ocean- brought such astonishing international attention and financial support to the small group of people that they were able to form an institution: Clearwater Marine Aquarium.
This sequel narrates another crisis for Winter when her Dolphin friend dies apparently from old age. The crisis is real: Dolphins are social to the point where another Dolphin presence is as essential as food the lives and well-being of these remarkable creatures. The story of the dilemma between the need for a Dolphin partner for Winter and the institutional mission of returning healthy Dolphins to the wild is told simply and powerfully.
The young actor and actress who play the roles of the real young people at the Aquarium are believable in their sincerity and passion for these stunning mysterious creatures who can seem so cerebral, so filled with light, these bottle-nosed Dolphins. And the cameo appearances of Morgan Freeman, and Kris Krisstoferson are added bonuses. If you do decide to see the movie, do stay long enough to see the actual filming of the rescues and of the footage of disabled children and adults who make the visit to communicate with this sympathetic being called Winter.

LOVE IS STRANGE - A New Film Report

How woeful it is when a film that is striving to show a new tolerance in civil society ratchets downwards into a feeble film where few triumph. Let me tell you about it and how I found it: Two gay partners- having lived with each other for thirty-nine years-- decide to wed-- thanks to new law permitting it-- and look ahead to the remainder of their lives in romantic matrimony. (Why a guy seventy-one and a guy ten years his junior do this... bless them!) But soon after the day's event becomes public, the Catholic Archdiocese --for whom the younger man works as music teacher-- sends down word to the head priest of the church-- where he's taught for years-- that he is now "fired".
He is George, who's played by Alfred Molina; and even though everyone there knows he and Ben (played by John Lithgow) have been cohabiting many years, the fact that they were now wed made George guilty of disobeying a church contract he once signed--which had to do with Church Doctrine-- permitting only a marriage between man and woman.
So here comes the problem: George no longer earns the money to make ends meet. Ben is retired-- on a pension. He's an artist, but is not bringing in any fresh income from his painting sales. They can't afford to keep the apartment they own, and with none that's available-- from the high of their new marriage they drop down to the low of their splitting up and living separately with family or friends.
This could have been a mighty chance to grow their characters, but instead it's a soap opera drama of their living with people who are not at all interested in creating something worthwhile. I see no reason to praise a movie that shows me only the weakest sequence of interactions with folks who are not at all in sync with the others' life style. For instance, George lives with two gay cops who have all forms of parties that George cannot relate to in the least. And while he is chatting with a detached young gay fellow and is asked why he's there, George says, "We're sitting on my couch"-I.e. ('I'm waiting for folks to leave so I can lie down on my bed and get a night's rest.') It does happen that this young man reveals the key for George and Ben to once again live together... but another twist must keep that from happening.
Ben, on the side of family assistance, is able to stay with his nephew Elliot (who's played by Darren Burrows); wife Kate (played by Marisa Tomei) and nephew Joey (Played by Charlie Tahan). Here dwells one stressed combination of folks-- hardly helpful with a houseguest: the wife's an author who is trying to write-while Ben wants to talk; and the husband is a film producer who's hardly ever home; and Joey is Ben's great nephew, who sprouts angry wings of self-determination and disdains his uncle's presence. Yet one redeeming chat between Joey and Ben sticks in my mind-- as a touching initiation towards Joey claiming manhood; and in the end... brings Joey to a scene that is as fine as any in the film. Not to give too much away: a question comes from Ben, who's bunking on the lower berth of the bed-- looking up towards Joey who is on top (trying to get some sleep): "Have you ever fallen in love?" After hemming a bit, Joey tells Ben of a girl he saw on vacation, whom he was afraid to meet, yet who lives in New York. Ben says, "Well you should get in touch." As far as I could see, that was the farthest stretch this movie made towards something grand. Everything else kept things beneath radar's love beam.
What about love's gay radar beam? What is this thing about gay couples' marrying? Is this something we need to know? I'm all for gay people loving and sharing their lives together. As an abstract concept it's beautiful. It's no different from straights--loving with each other out there. Surely the world is more beautiful with any form of love from human beings. But do I need to see two gays getting out of bed or cuddling--getting in bed, particularly two older guys with whom I have to witness intimacy? Show me love with fine words and deeply felt thoughts and gracious gestures showing folks care. But do not call it love when two guys are kissing-- or sharing spoons in their kitchen.
A producer needs to lift his talents skywards before he plans a film like this. If he is serious about showing us LOVE, then delve deeper than the showy spectacle of "handzies" that does nothing for me. The producer of LOVE IS STRANGE was Ira Sachs; and he does seek to give us the slow moving scenes, which can play well as something profound is being brought to the screen. But when those slow moving scenes are just a way to convey impatience or anger, why not just come out and speak it?
The writers were Maurice Zacharias as well as Ira Sachs. Surely a film like this is a daunting venture to undertake. I mean, they are dealing with a public that not so long ago would have balked here. Much has advanced proudly of late with gay celebrations and vows, but this film tends to disparage the whole concept by bringing in the way real estate in New York presents a coarse challenge to Ben and George who find themselves wed; one becomes jobless, suffers income loss;and both are homeless for too long to solidify their love. Love wasn't the only thing that felt strange in this movie. I would love to sing its praise, but I can't. It gets a SIX
What My Grade Grants:
8.) "About as good as it could get."
7.) "Lacking that bit of excellence."
6.) "Somehow it just didn't work well."
5.) "I have to feel bad about it."
4.) "All that work and nothing to show."

A Look At Possible Changes To The Denver Broncos 2011 Team

The Denver Broncos 2011 team is going to undergo a few changes now that their new Vice President of Football Operations (John Elway) has teamed up with John Fox who is the head coach of the team. Elway is a former great and his presence should instill something new in the team. Last season was not the best for the Broncos whose defense let them down miserably.
It seems that the defensive positions will be in need of an upgrade. The trouble is that this aspect has not been given serious thought since the season that ended in 1997. Tim Tebow and Kyle Orton will compete for the starting quarterback position.
Things are not so rosy when you look at the secondary which also is in need of a major upgrade. Here, the management will do well to pick someone like Patrick Peterson from LSU. In addition, there is need to fill some spots for cornerback as well as safety.
As for the offense, there is need for the players to understand that they can give their best only if they get suitable assistance from the inner line. It is up to the head coach to decide whether the current players in the interior line actually measure up or whether there is need to draft in a few new face. Should players like Laurence Maroney and Correll Buckhalter stay or should they be replaced? This is another question that the management has to answer.
Even the tight end position needs to be given a second look. Probably, adding a new face to fill this position will help to improve the performance of the team in the 2011 season. At the same time, there is a very slim chance that the Denver Broncos 2011 team will be with their best linebacker. Many believe that the Broncos will be searching for a new defensive lineman and that this position could be filled by the second overall pick.
The Broncos certainly messed things up defensively in the 2010 season and allowed the 7th most number of yards through the air and the 2nd most number of yards on the ground. Worse still, they recorded the lowest number of sacks in the entire league. The addition of someone like Da Quan Bowers would certainly help to improve the number of sacks.
Adding players such as Nick Fairley or Marcell Dareus could strengthen up the run defense. Von Miller from Texas A&M could be a great choice and could help to improve the Denver Broncos 2011 performance. Miller could team up with Elvis Dumervil and help in resurrecting pass rushes. In fact, Miller is renowned for his ability to pass rush and he is also very speedy and agile as well.
His ability to help receivers out of the backfield would be a major plus. Finally, there seems to be renewed optimism about the 2011 season. Hopefully they can avoid a lockout and NFL action will resume and the Broncos can compete to regain their competitiveness in 2011.

Are the Denver Broncos the Best Team in NFL History?

Through 5 games, the Denver Broncos look to be the best team ever in the NFL. The numbers speak for themselves: Their 46 points per game is a full 16 points higher than the Dallas Cowboys, who are in 2nd place this year. They are averaging nearly 500 yards per game. Quarterback Peyton Manning has already thrown 20 touchdown passes to just 1 interception. That's more than twice the touchdown passes by Aaron Rodgers, Matt Schaub, Andrew Luck, and Tom Brady. So while the Broncos are clearly playing head and shoulders above everyone else today (particularly on offense), is this team the greatest we've ever seen? And should we now put our entire life saving's on this sure bet to win Super Bowl XLVIII?
At 5-0, the Denver Broncos have been perfect, but we all know this is a long season, and those '72 Miami Dolphins are the lone team to sustain it throughout an entire year. Recent seasons have seen similar early displays of dominance. The 2007 Patriots actually went 16-0 during the regular season and put up most of the NFL records that the Broncos will be chasing. The 2011 Green Bay Packers started 13-0, and Aaron Rodgers went on to break the single season quarterback rating with 122.5 (Manning's 2013 rating is currently 136.4). It is worth pointing out though that neither of those tremendous teams won the Super Bowl that year.
The problem with blazing hot starts to an NFL season is that you risk running out of steam. The Super Bowl champion is usually the team that clicks towards the end of the season, not the start. Passing becomes more difficult as the temperatures drop, so the games begin to revolve around clock management and rushing attacks. Knowshon Moreno is off to a decent start this year, but it may have a lot to do with opposing defense's current pre-occupation in defending Wes Welker, Demaryius Thomas, and Eric Decker. Also, the Denver Broncos may have a fumbling problem with 6 fumble losses on the year (only the New York Giants have more with 7).
Another common trait among Super Bowl champions is a strong defense. The jury is still out on the Broncos' defense. Although they rank 29th in yards allowed, their 8th rank in points allowed resembles an ability to hold down the fort. Also, remember that superstar linebacker Von Miller hasn't played a single snap this year. After recording 18 sacks last season, Miller could vastly boost this defense and help terrorize opponents.
Therefore, I think we should optimistic about the Broncos' Super Bowl chances, but we need to exercise some patience. Yes, this team is on pace to shatter quite a few records, but when temperatures drop and the team faces some real adversity, we will get a stronger sense of their true capabilities. It's also worth mentioning that the Broncos have had a fairly soft schedule up to this point, with their opponents combining to a 9-16 record (excluding games against Denver it is 9-11). Looking ahead, there are really only 4 tough games on the schedule (2 against the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs, 1 against the Patriots, and 1 mouth-watering date with Manning's former team, the Indianapolis Colts). We will probably have to wait until the NFL playoffs to determine how special this Denver Broncos team really is, and should wait until they actually win the Super Bowl before we start declaring them the best team ever.

The Quarterbacks of the Denver Broncos by Decade

The Denver Broncos are one of the more popular teams in the National Football League. They have experienced ups and downs in terms of success as a team over the years, but their fans have remained fiercely loyal. The most famous player in Broncos history is easily quarterback John Elway who led the team to five Super Bowl appearances, including two Super Bowl victories. Who are the other quarterbacks that the Broncos have had through the years? Here is a look at the primary starting quarterbacks of the Denver Broncos by decade since the team's first season in the AFL in 1960.
1960s
The Broncos had an erratic start as a franchise, essentially not performing well in any season during their first decade in professional football. This is largely due to the instability at the starting quarterback position. The primary starting quarterbacks during the 1960s were Frank Tripucka, Mickey Slaughter, Jacky Lee, John mcCormick, Max Choboian, Steve Tensi, and Marlin Briscoe.
1970s
Nothing seemed to change when the 1970s started as the Broncos had a new starting quarterback, this time it was Pete Liske. The mid-1970s would see Steve Ramsey and Charley Johnson go back and forth as the primary quarterback before turning the offense over to Craig Morton for the end of the decade. Morton would lead the Broncos to a Super Bowl appearance in his first season with the team.
1980s
When the 1980s began, Morton remained as the starting quarterback for a couple of seasons before the offense was turned over to Steve DeBerg for a season. A new era began in the mid 1980s when a young rookie named John Elway took over as the starting quarterback of the Denver Broncos. Elway would lead the team to three Super Bowl appearances at the end of the decade, unfortunately losing each one.
1990s
John Elway continued as the starting quarterback throughout the 1990s, all but the final season of the decade when the torch would be handed to a new highly touted youngster named Brian Griese. Before retiring though, Elway avenged his earlier Super Bowl losses by leading the team to victory in the Super Bowls following the 1997 and 1998 seasons.
2000s
The new millennium saw Brian Griese continue as the starting quarterback for a few seasons until Jake Plummer was brought in to take over. Plummer would experience some good seasons, but also some that were below expectations and would eventually not be held onto in favor of rookie quarterback Jay Cutler.
The Denver Broncos have had a rich history, they started as one of the doormats of the old American Football League and have grown to become one of the regular contending teams in the NFL. Like most football teams, they have experienced most of their success when they have shown stability at the quarterback position. From Frank Tripucka to Craig Morton, to John Elway and now Jay Cutler, the quarterbacks of the Denver Broncos have been responsible for some of the best memories that fans of the team have.
Mark owns and maintains IQFB.com which is a great place to find hard to find football facts about the quarterbacks of the Denver Broncos or anything else in pro football.

Denver Broncos Gift Guide For Those Looking For Broncos Stuff

Searching for a gift can be fun and exciting, although sometimes it can be little frustrating and time consuming. You probably already have an idea of what type of gift to buy (i.e. football related), but still are not sure which direction to go. In other words, are you buying a Denver Broncos gift for a fan that likes showing off their team colors? Do they love talking about the individual players and the history of the team? Age sometimes matters, is your gift recipient a dad, grandpa or maybe they're a young fan and require Broncos infant or toddler gear. Regardless, use our Broncos gift guide to walk yourself through the best and most appropriate gifts for your situation. Once you determine what type of Broncos gift works best, you then can narrow your selection by price range or style. Here are the questions you need to ask yourself?
1. Is your gift recipient a child or infant?
2. Are you buying for a sports fan that wears (or would wear) sports apparel?
3. Does the fan own sports memorabilia and/or collectibles or have interest in getting started in collecting their own Denver Broncos stuff?
4. Does the Broncos fan enjoy displaying their Denver Broncos stuff in their home or office (i.e. on their wall, desk or mantle)?
5. Do they wear jewelry (ie. Necklaces, Watches, etc...)?
Child or Infant
Little football fan's love Broncos stuff too. Choose from a variety of kid's apparel and gift items. Kid's apparel ranges from jerseys and hats to bedding and posters. Nothing shows off team spirit more than a kid's jersey of their favorite player or a hat with logo. For those that like to deck out their bedroom, go for a Broncos comforter with team colors. For the little girl Denver fan, buy a toddler cheerleading outfit!
Apparel
Apparel is a great Denver Broncos gift item for almost any fan. You have a wide variety to choose from, which is great since you can narrow down your search by asking yourself a few questions. How much will I be spending on this gift? Answering that question will help you decide if you want a hat, shirt, jersey or jacket. Lower priced items include hats and T-shirts, while a Jersey and especially a jacket can increase the price tag substantially.
Memorabilia & Collectibles
This category is great for almost any fan, although the price tag can sometimes be a little high. If you buy an autographed item, the collectible value increases and so does the price tags! Don't feel that you have to spend an arm and leg to buy collectibles, just be mindful of your price range. You can find autographed footballs and jerseys by some the greats like John Elway.
Home & Office
Broncos stuff in the home or office is always a conversation starter with friends and guests. Framed photographs, signed or unsigned, are an awesome addition to someone's den, kitchen, office or bedroom. The old school football banners still exist or you can go with a huge wall displays that are now available. Denver Broncos gifts for the home or office give you a wide selection to choose from and also help with your budget. If you buying for a groom, pilsner glasses or bar stuff is always an option. Also consider golf and grill accessories, which will uniquely have the Broncos logo branded on them.
Jewelry and Watches
A nice watch is sure to be appreciated, whether it's for a man or woman. Search for Watches of all sorts; select a sports or casual watch or find a professional watch for the business woman or man. Jewelry for women includes earrings, necklaces and pendants. How nice can sports jewelry be? Is the thought many have, although you might be surprised at how unique and elegant Broncos jewelry is for the lady Broncos fan?
Alison Love is a dedicated sports and football fan. I love writing about history of the NFL, gift giving and Broncos stuff in general.

ST. VINCENT - A New Film Report

Have you ever stood up after a movie-- where you have laughed a bit and choked up a little bit as well-- and then you slowly sense an empty range of feelings from having been duped by the way the film was produced-- to a hunch that it wasn't great? There's no question that a director can pull a small bit of wool over our eyes with movie scenes that may be sincere but don't stand the test of real film honesty. Such is how I looked at the overall effect of St. Vincent.
It's a cute tale-- written and directed by Theodore Melfi-- that gives us a down-to-earth look at how a mean, aged, gruffy, reclusive, broke guy named Vincent-well-acted by Bill Murray-- becomes a bitter babysitter to a young boy--well-acted by Jaeden Lieberher - who has just moved next door. He's Oliver, and he requires supervision after school-thanks to the long hours his mom, Maggie-- who's well-played by Melissa McCarthy- is obliged to put in. Maggie is up against the world. She is a single-mom who has just moved to this part of Brooklyn-- after leaving a husband that's suing her for divorce. She's forced to make enough money to keep her and her son free from her lawyer-husband's threats to take the boy away from her.
The relationship that develops between her son and Vincent is skewed at best. It is unorthodox; and no sitter should use Vincent as a model sitter. Although he likes the cash (she pays him) to help pay his gambling debts, Vincent isn't obligated to change his errant day's schedule. That means cruising to the race track, hitting a couple of bars and paying Oliver to mow a dirt yard that he is too lazy to deal with. He seems to take smug pride educating young Oliver, his understudy, in the whys and wherefores of race track betting; and when the boy advocates trifecta (odds at eighty to one) they become rich like magic toads.
I did learn one thing that could prove valuable-if I ever win a large sum betting at a race track. (I'll pass it on to you). Say you win five thousand dollars. You should never let on to anyone near you. Rather than shout and jump high up and down in ecstasy, just start crying out how miserable you have become. Act as if what you've bet: Fate robbed you of winning. Then you have to scoot over to a window to claim your winnings and forthwith dash out of the track into your car. All of these cool actions will save you from any predators that might want to steal that money from you if they suspect you have won.
Further roles in this film are filled with competent actors. Naomi Watts-under the Russian name Dako-plays a pregnant prostitute who turns a few quick tricks for Vincent after her regular job is done. When Vincent is asked by Oliver, what line of work she's into, he's simply told she's a woman of the night. To an eleven year old kiddo, she has to be someone who does some work at night. If you want to see a stripper (who is pregnant) do a pole dance in a night club, then here's your chance to witness it.
Oliver commences attending a Catholic school as soon as he and his mom settle in their new house. As would be expected, he is bullied by bigger boys; and Vincent does give him strict instructions in the art of punching an opponent's nose so a quantity of blood comes pouring out.
Chris Dowd does a great job playing Brother Geraghty as Oliver's main teacher. It is Brother Geraghty who assigns the students the task of coming up with a person in their lives who might rightly be called a saint. I won't ruin the film (?) - as if you wouldn't guess who might be Oliver's sainthood choice.
Throughout this film we are shown a Vincent who is run down... Everything about him is meant to appall us. He's the kind of guy you wouldn't want sitting down on your couch in your living room. You might not want him drinking from a glass you use for guests. If he asked you to use any part of your restroom, you would become uneasy. (And that wouldn't faze him.) Yet Oliver did sleuth-research on Vincent and found out what he had done in life that made him seem almost worthy. I guess a little boy of eleven can see brave qualities that make up for piles of degrading ones. I thought all of this was sincere, but when the film finished, I had an inkling I'd been manipulated.
When we have to "plug in" value and redemption to make up for the lack of it being done for us, I cry, 'Foul!' We shouldn't have to say to ourselves, "Aw, that's nice!" Our minds and hearts should be nurtured by the progress of the film to where there's no choice. That's the job of the director. He needs to have that height of sensitivity where he can draw us along-and fill our expectations where we arrive at a spot we did not anticipate, which nevertheless does satisfy our feelings. I know, I know. That's hard to do. But until a film like this can do that - whether Bill Murray plays in it or not - I have to give it a grade of SEVEN MINUS. (Of course, that's good enough to see.)
What My Grade Grants:
8.) "About as good as it could get."
7.) "Lacking that bit of excellence."
6.) "Somehow it just didn't work well."
5.) "I have to feel bad about it."
4.) "All that work and nothing to show."

Famous Hair-Raising Data Center Film Scenes

While a data center is extremely valuable and useful in keeping companies and websites running, they're not the most glamorous of places. However, their appearances have increased in Hollywood movies and hit television shows. It's hard to deny that malfunctioning robots, or a maze of endless rows of computers makes for a tense setting that does wonders for any film. Even though these scenes may not be completely accurate to the operations of these technological hubs, they allow our minds to wander and imagine how machines might play a larger role in our lives in the future.
House of Cards
The extremely popular television show House of Cards is a tale full of twists, turns and deception. In an attempt to discover the truth behind his girlfriend's death, a reporter tries to steal information from an enormous data center. Unfortunately he's caught, but the setting of an underground tech basement with endless switches and plugs keeps the tension high throughout the encounter.
Skyfall
When James Bond meets the villain in the movie Skyfall, he's surrounded by rows and rows of machinery. We soon come to realize it's a data center right in the mansion's living room, but with no cabinets hiding the wires or attempt to improve the appearance. These bare-boned devices have us imagining Bond throwing his enemy through a row of supercomputers. This is, no doubt, one of the most unique prop devices used in a recent movie.
Minority Report
The joy of watching sci-fi movies is imagining the future and operations that might govern our lives differently someday. The film Minority Report, set in the distant future, imagines a different kind of data center used to arrest people before they commit a crime. It's hard to forget the main character's vision board in which he can pull up all kinds of information including DMV licenses, addresses and the foreseen video of an impending murder. Though this type of device doesn't fall within the typical definition, it's exciting to imagine how the future could evolve into something similar to Minority Report's vision.
A Space Odyssey: 2001
Stanley Kubrick's film, A Space Odyssey: 2001, follows a group of astronauts navigating their way to Jupiter with the help of the super computer HAL 9000. This highly evolved singular data center regulates the ship's navigation while the astronauts rest, as well as the air flow and operations on the ship such as opening and closing of hatches. When HAL 9000 boasts that his generation of supercomputers has never malfunctioned, we can guess that he'll be the first to disobey his masters. There's nothing more frightening than being deep in space up against the cold logic of a supercomputer. This film wouldn't hold the same tension without the machines calling the shots.
In our world of growing and evolving technology, these tech hubs are directly relevant to our lives now more than ever. It isn't surprising to see their involvement in Hollywood films in a character's effort to uncover hidden data, overthrow a disobedient operator or catch future criminals.

Anyone who was born in the era of good music, good movies and good entertainment must have a favorite actor, musician, movie star or comedian and even directors among others. They are the celebrities that we all look up to and they have a way of getting in touch with our emotions. When you have a favorite celebrity, you are always curious to find out what they are up to, what they are working on and how they are leading their lives.
However, gathering tidbits of their lives is easier said than done. The physical distance is a major hurdle. It can also be equally impossible to get into the life of your favorite celebrity even if you live in the same city. Their lives are guarded like treasures in that it gets practically impossible to even get close to them to let them know that you are their number one fan.
How to Keep Up To Date
Even though you might never get to meet with your favorite artist or movie star or entertainer, you can easily keep up with their lives. The internet eliminates all geographical barriers to make it possible for you to follow the lives of people you like the most. There are websites dedicated to celebrity lives. On such sites, you can access celebrity gossip, news and photos.
News sections are another great resource if you want to keep up with the lives of your favorite celebrities. The difference between websites dedicated to celebrities and news sections is that the latter will have less of biographical information. Rather, it will give you more information on the latest happenings in their lives particularly their personal lives and their film career. The news can be found online or in print media such as newspapers and magazines.
If you like a musician, you can easily read their biographies and get wind of their upcoming songs through reliable sites. Keeping up with your favorite celebrity means that you will never miss out on huge hits even long before they become hits. Here's how to go about the search.
• Start by finding a reliable site that you can rely on for factual information on the celebrities that you are interested in.
• Some of the sites will offer the information that you need without requiring a sign up, but others might require that you sign up.
• Once you have logged in to the site, you will see the top stories from which you can choose depending on your preferences.
• To follow a specific celeb, all you have to do is use the search box to have the latest gossip or stories about your celeb.
• When using a reliable site, you will get every detail you need in the celebrity's life and career. Everything you need is simply a click away

Review your Samsung TV's curve.

User Reviews

Samsung UN55HU7250 Curved 55-Inch 4K Ultra HD 120Hz Smart LED TV

By Christopher J. Cowen
Samsung makes great TV's that surpass every other manufacturer in their class. I have two Samsung's in my house and I can tell you the image is beautiful. This TV has an LED screen and in my opinion this the way to go (LED is similar to LCD its back-lit better so that they are no dark spots on the screen).

Now add in that this TV can directly connect to the internet and I'm sold. TV's of this class have never been cheaper.

One thing that I have found with TV's that its very important to actually look at the TV in person. Now when you look at the TV's, go to a place like Walmart to see them, because many times specialty stores like Best Buy play with the lighting controls on the TV and in the store to skew the image to there advantage. Once you look at the TV simply look and decide which one looks better to you.

The next step to take into consideration is features. Here are a few that come with this TV:

This Samsung comes with Auto Volume which automatically adjusts the volume of the desired channel, lowering the sound output when the modulation signal is high or raising the sound output when the modulation signal is low. This reduces the difference in volume when changing channels. The Auto Volume feature can be set to Normal, Night or Off.

As far as outputs most of these TV's will come with more than enough Inputs and Outputs. This TV comes with 3 HDMI Audio/Video In, 1 Ethernet LAN In/Out, 1 RCA Component Audio/Video In amd 1 Digital Coaxial Audio Out.

Next thing when shopping for a TV is in box technology. Here are some of the features of this TV:

With this Smart HDTV there is a full web browser with WiFi built-in apps made for TV. Some of the apps this TV features is Hulu Plus, YouTube, Netflix, Facebook, and Twitter. Browse the web while you watch movies and TV shows, and enjoy TV while you chat with friends and family online, all on one screen with this Samsung.

Thank you for reading my review, if you have any questions feel free to email me, I would be happy to help you with any questions you have.

Samsung UN48H8000 Curved 48-Inch 1080p 240Hz 3D Smart LED TV

By odc
I waited two weeks to write this review, I wanted to be sure, and helpful to others. Buy it! Curved screen is awesome. Picture has depth and 3D look when it is not 3D. Very little side fade--hard to notice any. I can't imagine needing more from a viewing experience--you feel like you are watching in a theater. Sound is good and has surround feel and audio. TV weighs about 30 pounds unboxed (48 inch). Lifted it and set it up with no help (I am over 70). stand was easy to install.
Easy setup and good directions for quick start guide and setup. Basically connects to the internet automatically if you are using a wireless network--finds it in 2 seconds or less and asks for your security code or PIN---enter it, and you are connected, and, all features are working on new TV. Then you choose your preferances, it guides you through a personal setup menu geared to your habits. Setup took about 15 minutes being careful and methodical.
Great new kind of remote is included, and is great if you Game, Facebook, Tweet or use your TV for social media interacting--I don't, but like the remote.
I have DirecTV and I like the remote with the Genie DVR so I programmed the Directv remote to operate everything and saved the new remote for just in case.---DIRECTV REMOTE PROGRAM CODE FOR THIS SAMSUNG THAT WORKED FOR ME ---10814

You will get a choice of 4 pre-set picture types or qualities in setup--- the one that is the most realistic is ----MOVIE--select it---then you can adjust contrast and brightness on all 4 easily--MOVIE was perfect with no adjustments for all types of programs---the other modes are STANDARD---or---DYNAMIC --or---? (can't remember 4th one) It is easy to go to setup menu at anytime and change the setting.

Has 4 pair of nice 3D glasses with batteries that are activitated and paired with the TV easily. You turn on the glasses and TV pairs with them.

Amazon special delivery was very good, was delivered by special van exactly as scheduled, they unboxed, checked to make sure screen was not damaged and hooked up to power to make sure that was OK. offered to take the box and packing, but I kept for a few days in case of return. Delivery people were polite and helpful, wanted to make sure I was totally satisfied before they left. Very pleased---Love shopping and buying at AMAZON--my store for everything.
